Prevent Unauthorized Transactions from Reducing Company Profits

Each year, check and electronic fraud costs America's businesses billions of dollars in losses. You cannot afford to believe that it will not impact your business.

But here's the good news: First Citizens offers you two reliable ways to protect your accounts from fraudulent activity.

Positive Pay

Our Positive Pay service is a simple, systematic way to help detect and stop check fraud.

Each time you issue checks, you will send First Citizens an electronic file that contains the checks' individual serial numbers and amounts. We then build a cumulative register based on these files, and compare every check presented for payment against this register.

If a check's serial number and amount do not match exactly with the check issue record, we immediately hold the check in question, and report our findings to you through our Business Online Banking Advantage service. You can then view an image of the check and instruct us online whether you want it paid or returned.

ACH Monitor

ACH Monitor gives you two ways to control the ACH debits and/or credits that post to your account:

  • Total Block — automatically returns all ACH items received for posting to your selected account(s).
  • ACH Monitor Positive Pay — allows you to establish approved ACH transaction originators for one or more accounts. You can also specify transaction parameters, such as maximum dollar amounts, one-time or ongoing authorization status and expiration dates. Once your authorization criteria are established, any exceptions are reported to you for pay-or-return instructions.
